How Does the Final Grade Calculator Work?
The Final Grade Calculator uses your current course grade, desired overall grade, and final exam weight to determine the score you need on your final exam.
The Final Grade Formula
The exam weight is converted from a percentage into a decimal before the calculation is performed.
Example
Suppose your current grade is 85%, you want a 90% final grade, and your final exam is worth 30% of the course.
Enter:
- Current Grade: 85%
- Desired Grade: 90%
- Final Exam Weight: 30%
The calculator will determine the exact exam score required to reach your target.
Can I Get a 100% on My Final Exam?
If the calculator shows a required grade above 100%, the desired overall course grade cannot be achieved through the final exam alone. The calculator also considers the maximum possible overall grade when the final exam score is 100%.
